Sunset on Lake Awasa

Sunset on Lake Awasa

I felt lead by God to take a vacation, particularly to Awasa, so I decided to take Him up on it and see what happened.  I’m so glad I did!  Like all of God’s plans, they really do turn out for the best!

I took the bus with an Ethiopian friend of mine.  She spent the weekend with her friends.  I have a missionary friend who invited me to stay with her at a retreat center by the lake for FREE!!!!  So, there I was spending the day talking about God and life in Ethiopia, sunbathing, swimming in the pool, watching the sunset, hiking, and eating good Italian and Ethiopian food for less than I was expecting!  It was wonderful!

Later I met up with some Norweigan friends.  We went to church together, had lunch and also just got to hang out and talk about God.  I also spent some much needed rest with God and wrote out my New Year’s Resolutions (aka Prayer Requests for the Year since only God can really make New Year’s Resolutions happen).

I feel so rested and refreshed.  Thank you God for giving me this vacation!!

Two of my beautiful students!

Two of my beautiful students!

Normally on New Year’s Day I watch the Rose Parade with my family, but instead I sang the Ethiopian National Anthem and enjoyed being with my students one last day before break.  Yes, I had to work on New Year’s Day, but it was fun!  I got to wear my Ethiopian traditional clothes for the first time, take pictures of my students, and eat cookies and soda with them.  We played games and had a total party day!

So, here are a few pics of me with my cute students.  I know I’m biased but they are some of the most beautiful, wonderful students a teacher could ever ask for!  Hope you all enjoy!
